Teaching Spotting to improve tumbling connections

Do you teach your kids to spot the floor between their twisting connections?

Want safe, consistent and replicable connections? Knowing where the floor is and when to expect the punch can be a great benefit. Make sure you invest in the time to develop the right habits. It is hard to go back and re-teach it later.

Watch this athlete spot the full and then leave the eyes at the floor as she continues to finish the 1.5 twist. You will notice that she will also keep her second shoulder slightly back and the chest open. This will help to avoid early pike to the floor to rush the connection.

Also, the @tumbltrak Air Floor Pro is our most used and favorite piece of equipment in our gym. I absolutely consider it a must have if you want to help your gymnasts stay healthy, work realistic timing (it is faster than a Tumbl Trak and Rod Floor), and give them a little boost to learn proper technique without feeling like they have to power it up on the floor right away.

Hope this helps you and your athletes create their Best Darn Gymnastics!
