Square Hamstring Leg Lowers – Key points, keeping the core engaged and lowering the bottom leg only as far as they can stay square, with the low back flat against the surface. Hold at the bottom for 1 or 2 seconds. Keep the top leg very tight. This exercise facilities hitting the end range of motion without compensating in the lower back is vital for long term health. This stretches the hip on the working leg, and the hamstring on the top/stationary leg.
