Hurdle Alignment Drill

Here is a hurdle drill to work the balance of the body and the alignment through to the double leg lunge. One of the biggest problems you see in tumbling and vaulting is the crossover of the front foot leading into the roundoff. This leads to the overturn and jumping half roundoff that is less efficient when it comes to keeping your momentum directed in a straight line.

The goal here is to have the athlete put one foot on the outside edge of the line. This keeps each leg directly in front and behind the line of their hip versus creating a V under the body. Maintains closer to normal walking mechanics.

We hope this helps you and your athletes create their Best Darn Gymnastics!
