Cleo Washington Cleo has 25+ years of coaching experience, with a career spanning the East and West Coasts of the United States and now Singapore, where she is helping build a high-performance training environment at Mokara Gymnastics Academy. Most recently, Cleo served as Head Coach at Airborne Gymnastics (California) for almost seven years, where she proudly led an all-female Optional Team staff, contributing to a thriving team culture and the continued strength of the Airborne legacy. Cleo is known for developing excellent, technical gymnastics through a coaching style grounded in compassion, positivity, and a deep love for the sport. She has also served within the USA Gymnastics National Team and Developmental systems, and has coached athletes to success across the Hopes, Developmental, Elite, and NCAA pathways. Sarah Korngold Sarah has been coaching gymnastics since high school, and her genuine love for the sport is immediately clear. She has worked with athletes at every level and truly enjoys sharing her experience with gymnasts ranging from beginners to top-level elites. Creating a positive, supportive training environment is central to her coaching philosophy. Known for her eye for detail and precision, Sarah helps her athletes achieve consistent, high-quality results while continuing to grow and improve. Sarah is currently a USA National Team Coach and is privileged to coach six-time World Medalist Shilese Jones. Their accomplishments together include: 2023 World Championships: Bronze medals in the All-Around and Uneven Bars, a Team Gold medal, and finals appearances on Floor Exercise and Balance Beam 2022 World Championships: Silver medals in the All-Around and Uneven Bars, along with a Team Gold medal Shilese is also a USA Senior Elite National Champion on Floor Exercise and Uneven Bars and a USA Senior Elite National Team member. Sarah was named Assistant Coach for Team USA at both the 2022 and 2023 World Championships. Over the past several years, Sarah has played an integral role in the leadership of Ascend Gymnastics. During that time, the program was named USAG Development National Program of the Year in 2022, becoming the first program from Region 2 to receive this honor. Ascend has also been recognized as Region 2 Program of the Year in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Throughout her career, Sarah has coached athletes who have achieved an impressive range of accomplishments, including Development Program National Championship titles, Nastia Liukin Cup qualifiers and champion, TOPs National Teams, HOPES Championships and National Team selections, Canadian Elite Championships, USA National Team appointments, and multiple international assignments and medals. She has also helped develop many athletes who have gone on to compete successfully at the collegiate level on scholarship. In addition to coaching, Sarah is actively involved in education and leadership within the sport. She has led a Balance Beam Masterclass with Nick Ruddock, served as a Balance Beam National Staff member at the 2022 Development Program National Team Camp, and was a Vault clinician for the 2025 TOPs A Camp. She is also a frequent regional and state clinician, working across all events. Sarah’s additional experience and qualifications include serving as the Washington State Optional Representative, California TOPs State Manager, Level 10-rated Developmental Judge, Meet Director, and a board member of the Southern California Women’s Coaches Association. She is NCCP Level 2 certified, background checked, and SafeSport certified.
Brett Wargo Brett has been a full-time coach for the past 17 years, and has taught all levels of gymnasts, from recreational classes to the top elite athletes. His experience and expertise are only matched by his dedication to the sport, and those he works with. - Current USA National Team Coach. Brett is privileged to coach Shilese Jones (2022 World Championships Silver Medalist in the All-Around and Uneven Bars, 2023 Wold Championships Bronze Medalist in the All-Around and Uneven Bars, 2022 and 2023 World Championships Team Gold Medalist, 2023 USA National Uneven Bar Champion, 2022 USA National Champion on FX and UB, USA Senior Elite National Team Member). Has also assisted in developing two other Jr Elite US Championships Qualifiers. - Brett has also been privileged to coach multiple National Champion athletes in the JO/Development Program at level ten (8 All-Around, 10 Uneven Bars) and level nine (6 All-Around, 8 Uneven Bars). Also multiple Nastia Liukin Cup Qualifiers including one AA Champion. - Has had a multitude of athletes earn full-ride scholarships at the Division 1 level of NCAA Gymnastics. - His and Sarah’s leadership in Ascend Gymnastics (the home base of Best Darn Gymnastics) helped garner the award of 2022 USAG National Program of the Year. This was the first time a Region 2 program has been awarded this prestigious title. Ascend was also named the 2021, '22 and '23 Region 2 Program of the Year. - Brett was named the Region 2 Contributor of the Year for 2022 - Brett created the Wild Card/All-Star Session (Individual Event Qualification system) at Level 10 Nationals, inaugural session held in 2022. - Equipment designer/inventor and patent holder, designing equipment that is being manufactured and sold by Tumbl Trak, including his first design to market, the Porcupine Pad (a training aid for Uneven Bars). The Mountain Bar System came out in June of '23 and has become another impactful training tool for gyms around the country and world. - Has held multiple positions of leadership within the gymnastics community including the Michigan-State Administrative Committee (level rep), Region 5-Camp Committee rep and Region 2-Advisory Committee. - Numerous gym clinics, camps, state and regional congresses have all benefitted from his experience and knowledge with Brett joining as both a lecturer and head-clinician.
