Kip Drills from our buddies @lagoldgymnastics
The strength and shaping are incredibly important to making more quality kips. The first drill is a simple leg left to the bar with the hips supported. Gymnast is learning to find that full compression with ankles to the bar each repetition. This happens when the hips are in front of the bar.
The second drill combines the first one with an actual spotted kip to work the pendulum of the hips around the bar and the push down to compressed pike over the bar. Focus on the finish position and make sure they are drilling the right habits to finish a kip such that they can subsequently cast with strength from their compression.
Hope these can help you and your athletes create their Best Darn Gymnastics!
